Board of Director Candidate Inquiry

Candidates to the Board of Directors -- Information

Thank you for your interest in the Board of Directors of The International Dyslexia Association Upper Midwest Branch (IDA-UMB). General information regarding candidate inquiries is outlined below. Should you have any questions, please contact the Chair of the IDA-UMB Nominating Committee, Wilson Anderson, 785-845-6876, or cwajr2@cs.com. Other members of the Committee are Paul Evangelist (appointed by the Board) and Mary Platt (elected by the Membership).

The Board represents a diverse group of individuals with an interest in dyslexia. They represent a wide array of expertise and perspectives (e.g., business, educational research, education, law, parents, medicine, and others). The needs of the Board vary from year to year; it is possible during a given year that we may not be in need of specific areas of expertise.

Who is eligible?

Any member of The International Dyslexia Association is welcome to apply or to be considered as a candidate to the Board of Directors. Take a look at our Candidate Information Sheet to see what kind of information we're interested in when considering a new Board Member. Because the Board of Directors of IDA-UMB is a working board, active participation in many aspects of the organization is necessary. View a Board Member job description for a good idea of the role our Directors play in maintaining a vibrant program.

How do I suggest myself or someone else to the Nominating Committee of IDA-UMB?

Submit the person’s name, address and e-mail information to Wilson Anderson, Nominating Committee Chair.

Please remember that suggesting a person for a Board position, does not “nominate” that person. Only the Nominating Committee recommends nominees to the Board of Directors. Make certain that the person you suggest knows of your interest/support and agrees to have his/her name submitted. The Nominating Committee with follow up by sending an application to the person you’ve suggested.

We sincerely thank you for your interest.
