     In order to support all those in our service area, IDA-UMB has developed a series of webinars that we hope will keep parents, educators and advocates connected and informed. All you need to do is register and follow the instructions sent to you via email. Attending a webinar is fun and easy -- like hosting a lecture in your living room! You'll be able to ask questions, take notes and connect with others -- all from your computer.

Executive functions are mental processes upon which all learning is built. In this webinar, presenter Paula Moraine will provide an overview of the executive functions we use every day, and will introduce the skills, approaches and insights that help us develop executive functions and use them effectively. A terrific webinar for parents and educators and well worth the price of admission! 

Presenter Paul Moraine is an author, trainer and teacher at The Highlands School in Bel Air, Maryland and a member of The International Dyslexia Association.

When a young person with dyslexia or other learning disabilities leaves the secondary school system, he or she must have strategies in place to alleviate the effects of their disability in vocational and social settings. This webinar will describe some of these strategies and and present some resources families and individuals can access to support this transition.

Participants will learn about issues young people face when they leave secondary school and face college or the work world. They will also learn strategies that can support this transition. Topics covered include strengths-based development, accommodations, disclosure, and community resources that support young adults.

Presenter, Joe Timmons, has been a researcher at the Institute on Community Integration at UMN since 2002. Prior to that, he worked with individuals with disabilities as a teacher, counselor, and project coordinator. He has two master's degrees; one in Rehabilitation and one in Social Work.
